This Is Our Story

Sunset in the Forest

My name is Becky, and I’ve always loved being in nature, even when I didn’t realise it. All my childhood holidays were spent near the beautiful beaches of Devon and Cornwall, and they’re my happiest memories from that time in my life. As an adult, I have continued my holidays in that style, always near nature of some kind.

In my early 30s, my friends and I would periodically go for walks in nature, and I always loved them and felt filled up by them, but it still wasn’t something I did regularly.

It was only when I went through a difficult break up in my mid-30s that I started walking in nature often. I was lucky enough to be living in the middle of the Surrey Hills and I started going on walks after work, straight from my doorstep. I honestly believe, walking 3-4 times a week, in the midst of woodland and fields, healed my heartbreak and set me back on a path of exploring how I wanted to live my life.

Since then, walking in nature has become a regular, almost daily occurrence for me and has helped me get through the last few years, which have been a rollercoaster as I’ve strived to live the life I desire.

Professionally, I have worked in the National Health Service for 15 years, and I have felt disillusioned and burnt out for the last 5 of them, as I came to realise I wanted a job that lights me up, which for me is all about connecting with others on a deep level.

Over these 5 years, I’ve done numerous courses and coaching programmes to explore what I might want to do, which has included becoming a qualified coach and mentor. It was only when I moved 200 miles away to South Devon that I found what I’d been searching for. I joined a local circle community, working with the moon cycle, and the wider nature cycles, to meditate, journal, and share our life journeys together.

After completing circle facilitator training, Nurturing with Nature was born. Through our circles and events, I want to create safer communities so attendees have a space where they can show up and be seen, heard, and supported to be exactly who they are.
